I have come across very few artists so confident in a particular work, they record a Spanish version, an English version, and a separate remix version. But this is the strength of ‘Unforgotten,’ and the everlasting connection to the heritage which has spawned such a talent. ‘Roxanna’ is birthed from the Spanish infused flamenco culture of her heritage. ‘Unforgotten’ is as whimsical and enchanting as pop songs get. As said by ‘Roxanna,’ “Music should bring pleasure; it should be elegant and relaxing. I want people to fall in love and make babies as they listen to my songs.” I can certainly agree that people should love music, but it most certainly does not NEED to bring pleasure. There are plenty of songs which recall certain moments of sadness, or artists who build entire careers around the sullen and somber realities of living a life of seeming pain interrupted by brief adoration  I expect ‘Roxanna’ did not get that memo, more focused on people making babies to the sounds of her Spanish dance.

‘Unforgotten’ is a gem of a song, and the sure winner of the three versions is the Spanish one, a track more closely in tune with her heritage- and it shows. ‘Roxanna’ is a sassy songstress, a diva of grand proportions. One can only hope her popularity matches her aesthetics. Her current place in Canada leaves her in an odd spot. But the strength of her hooks, her memorable persona, and her overall sensual nature, leaves her with an advantage where music is becoming more sexless by being more overtly sexual- in any country. Roxanna just LOVES music, as should you (as you make babies to it, obviously).
